Embercast 0.3.29 is out for Windows and Mac, and it opens the Founders Cup: a 2v2 cup with $200 in prizes that starts this Thursday. This email also covers 0.3.27 and 0.3.28, which I shipped quietly.
The Founders Cup is for duos. Sign up with your partner in #cup-signup on our Discord, each of you posts one clip, and we put your duo on the ladder. On cup nights, Thursday October 1 and 8 and Saturday October 10 from 8 to 10 pm ET, you queue together for Founders Cup matches from Play, and every match moves your cup rating. The six best duos after October 10 play the finals on Thursday October 15, streamed in the Discord. The champions get $120 and the runners-up $40, and $40 goes to the best goal and best fail clips. If a friend you invited wins any cash prize, you win the same amount. In the game, Profile has Share your cup invite, which copies your personal link. New players are asked who invited them the first time they sign in.
Ranked 2v2 is here too. Find a 2v2 match, on your own or with a partner, and it now counts toward your own 2v2 MMR, separate from your 1v1 rating. The Top 100 has a board for each, and one for the cup.
Playing with your party is quicker. When you lead a party, Play starts with 1v1 against your friend and Team up against bots, and the match starts as soon as everyone is in. After a match the whole party moves on together, and the pauses some of you hit after matches are gone.
The Wardrobe is faster as well. Item cards draw once and are remembered, so paging through the shop and your collection is smooth, and your equipped look shows the whole hat, crown and all.
